Lower Manhattan's Financial District stands as a monumental physical record of American economic history. From the early 19th-century Greek Revival columns of Federal Hall to the soaring Art Deco spires of the 1920s and 30s, the dense streetscape of Wall Street and its surrounding grid reflects centuries of immense ambition and architectural innovation.
